Julian was a very sweet boy.  We were next door neighbors as kids and even though he lived right next door he had to go to Humbolt School and I went to Franklin until my family moved when I was in the 6th grade.  He was one of four boys and I jumped right in the dirt with them.  We spent many hours playing hide and go seek, swinging on a tire swing, playing softball in a emply lot down the street and lots of bike riding.  I ran into his mother just a few weeks ago and told her what was going on and she was so pleased that we are remembering him.  He left us much too soon and when I remember my childhood antics I often think of him.

Julian and I were in the Black Knights Drum & Bugle Corp together. Lost contact with him but I understand he was killed in the Vietnam War.

I was in the Black Knights with Julian who was a terrific soprano bugle.  Later, I was in the Air Force and Julian was in the Navy, a pilot.  We spent July 20, 1969 at my apartment in Newport News, VA together with our wives watching the landing of Apollo 11 on the moon.  Julian had just purchased a Jaguaur XKE.  A very cool car.

So every time I see or hear something about Apollo 11, the first thing to come to mind is Julian Moon.  A very cool guy.
