Frank and I have been friends for over 50 years. We were locker partners all four years at BTHS and were friends the very first day. Frank was a most unique person and I will miss him greatly. A couple weeks ago another friend had visited Frank at his apartment in a care facility. He told me that Frank had three suits of armor displayed in his Bay window. Frank is being Frank all the way to the end, he is being buried in his Confederate uniform. Frank served in the Army and was in Vietnam.
Delmar ((Frank)) Riester is in the video I did several years ago about the original group from high school BTHS.
I really did not know Frank, just knew of him and his interest in the Civil War. After reading his obit in the BND I wish I had known him. What an interesting person. May he rest in peace.
Condolences to the Riester Family, Friends and Classmates! I was in a few classes with Frank at BTHS. Frank will be missed, thanks for serving our Country, God Bless and RIP Frank!
Frank was a great guy; reminded me of a gentle giant. When I took the old bus to school; his dad was our bus driver (city bus back then) and took us up to the Square for our transfer so be could go to BTHS. His dad was a great guy; always used to talk to him on the route. I'm guessing Frank was named after him because his dad always went by Delmar. Being in Colorado; don't get a chance to look at the BND; will look at article on the web. Hugo Ehret
I agree with Hugo. Frank reminded me of a gentle giant. Didn't know him well but he always had a shy smile when I said hello to him in the BTHS halls. Thank you, Frank, for serving in Vietnam and keeping our country strong. I hope you had a good life.
