The Belleville New-Democrat on November 30,1970 listed Ron Haas as killed in a car crash on November 28, 1970. He was a passenger in a car driven by a Marvin Wetzel. They crashed into a Mascoutah Township Highway Department storage garage on State Route 161. Ron was 26 years old. His one brother Ken Haas, just recently retired as owner of Basic Hardware in Belleville..

I knew Ron basically through his sister Carol Jean who is also deceased. He was a very nice courteous young man. It is very sad to know that both Carol and Ron are now deceased. Such sweet people and a joy to know!

I remember Ron Haas from school as well as his sister, Carol. Ron was soft spoken and easy going just like his sister. He died tragically when he was very young and will be remembered by all who knew him.
